Goodbye N-Gage – While Apple is’ the war to the portable console, with an official announcement, published on his blog, Nokia announced the closure of its platform for mobile games of last generation. Recall that N-Gage, now in its second generation software to be compatible with dozens of Smartphone to offer high quality games, was launched in summer 2007.

The reasons for this decision are listed in the Post reports on N-Gage blog and want to emphasize the need, by Nokia, to offer date content for a larger number of phones. The natural evolution of N-Gage, therefore, means for Nokia Ovi Store. The latter is compatible with 100 or more devices is that they not Smartphones and currently sells lots of games to justify this choice, a bit ‘risky but well-justified.

It must be said that the operating costs of the N-Gage are certainly higher, given the excellent service that Arena allows players to challenge each other online and obtain a cumulative score even from different games. What will happen to the platform? Will be kept active until September 2010 and until then the games will be sold through Ovi Store; will remain active even the Arena and the phones sold will have up to this time the N-Gage preinstalled.
